A FORCE IN RACING

As the club enters its 6th year we feel with the wealth of experience gained we are better placed than most to move into 2010 with a thorough knowledge of how to run place and ultimately win races. Our strike rate year in year out is well above average.

We can’t hide the facts that the latter part of 2009 were testing with the uncertainty surrounding one of our main trainers Karl Burke together with the problems Derek Shaw encountered in the courts with his former landlord. It definitely had an adverse effect on our results but the stats are still impressive. With all those problems ironed out we are confident that 2010 will continue the success story of MARC Ltd.

RACING IN CRISIS

It has been with an element of despair that we have witnessed a year on year fall in prize money (even before the recession). Obviously costs have continued to rise particularly with diesel. It continues to amaze us how the bookmakers scrap to pay as little to the levy as they can and there seems no uniformed way that channels money from the exchanges back into racing. Yes they sponsor the big high prle meetings but there is little on left on the plate for 95% of owners. We start 2010 with a reduced team sticking to our established performers plus 1 youngster. Now we have had our rant we are still on the lookout for informed members and have a few shares in Baby Strange and the Antonius Pius 2 year old (see horses for sale).
